Dr. Ioannis N. Liras is a board-certified physician in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. Originally from Athens, Greece, he moved to Texas in 2007 and currently works as a clinician and full-time faculty member. He serves as the Sports Ultrasound Director for the CHRISTUS Health/Spohn-Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency Program in Corpus Christi.

Since 2018, Dr. Liras has been actively involved with Islander Athletics, where he serves as the Team Physician for all sports. He also plays a key role as a preceptor for the Athletic Training program, mentoring students on campus.

Beyond his work with Islander Athletics, Dr. Liras is a ringside physician for USA Boxing, Team Physician for the Corpus Christi Ice Rays, and volunteers his expertise to Team USA at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He has multiple research publications and has presented at prestigious conferences both nationally and internationally.

In his free time, Dr. Liras enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer, savoring BBQ, traveling, and sharing stories about his favorite Greek island, Chios.
