CORPUS CHRISTI - The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi cross country program has signed Christoph Hintz to a National Letter of Intent, Director of Track and Fieldannounced today. Hintz is the 14th student-athlete (eight women, six men) to sign with the Islanders for the 2011-12 school year.
Hintz, a native of Peckatel, Germany, comes from the same hometown as fellow Islanders signee Phillip Baar. He has run as fast a time as 14:30 in the 5K, a time that should put him in position to help the Islanders push for the top of the Southland.
"We are excited about Christoph joining the Islanders family," Flanagan said. "He should give us more up-front power within cross country and help us a lot in the conference with respect to the team race. He will make an immediate impact for our program."
Hintz joins internationals Baar and Valentinas Rudys (Vilnius, Lithuania) and native Texans Paul "Buster" Hansel (Cuero/Cuero), Brandon Lacy (Lytle/Lytle) and Angel Banda (LaJoya/Lincoln Juarez) as part of the Islanders men's cross country program's signing class.
