The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi cross country teams improved in the latest USTFCCCA regional rankings following a successful weekend at the annual Chile Pepper Festival.
In the USTFCCCA South Central women's rankings, the Islanders moved up to seventh following a sixth-place finish in Fayetteville. A&M-Corpus Christi finished in front of Wyoming, Arkansas, McNeese State, Oklahoma, Tulane, SMU, TCU, UT Arlington, UTSA, Auburn and LSU at the competition.
On the men's side the Islanders are at 11th this week in the South Central region. The team finished in front of Auburn, TCU, LSU, and Tulsa in Arkansas.
"Both teams had a good weekend at the Chile Pepper Festival so it's nice to see us rise in the rankings," said head coach Shawn Flanagan "Finishing in front of several good teams gives us momentum before the conference championship."
Up next for the Islanders cross country teams is the Southland Conference Championship in Beaumont at Lamar University.
