Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's cross country teams are ranked this week in the USTFCCCA South Central Region rankings. The Islanders are eighth in the women's rankings with the men's showing up at 13th on the list.
The Southland Conference women are well represented with six schools in the rankings. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is just behind Stephen F. Austin, who is seventh. Next in the rankings are UT Arlington at ninth, Lamar in 10th place, McNeese State at 12th and Nicholls State rounding out the group at 13th.
Just like their counterparts on the women's side, the conference has six men's teams ranked this week. Lamar is fourth, McNeese State sits at fifth and Stephen F. Austin is at sixth. Also ranked around the Islanders are UTSA at 10 and UT Arlington at 15th.
"It's nice to be ranked and we hope to improve both our men's and women's rankings as we get a chance to compete," said cross country head coach Shawn Flanagan.
The Islanders will travel to San Antonio on Friday night for the Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas Classic which will start around 6 p.m.
