Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's cross country teams travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the annual Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday. The festival features several of the top teams in the region and nation.

"The Chile Pepper Festival is one of the best meets in the nation," said cross country head coach Shawn Flanagan.

On the men's side, the team will face off against the likes of Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, Missouri, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Wyoming and Virginia Tech. In addition, Southland Conference foes Central Arkansas, McNeese State, UT Arlington and UTSA will be at the event.

The women will also face tough competition against Arkansas, Baylor, BYU, Kansas State, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Missouri State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah and Wyoming. TAMUCC women's also will face conference opponents Central Arkansas, McNeese State, UT Arlington and UTSA.

"I really feel good about our prospects in this meet, however we are leaving two important team members at home this weekend. Meghan Lemke and Jordan Valle on the men's side won't be making the trip for us," said Flanagan "If this were the conference meet they'd be competing, but since it's not we'll let them rest.

"Scott Vance, Kirk Dalhiem and BreAnna Briggs are looking good in preparation for the festival," said Flanagan.
