CROSS COUNTRY SET TO HIT ROAD AT TEXAS A&M INVITE

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's cross country teams will travel to College Station on Saturday, Sept. 12 for the Texas A&M Invite. Both teams will be among an estimated 2,400 university and high school runners set to compete.

Penberthy Intramural Fields will be the site on the A&M campus for the annual invite. Starting times will be 7:45 a.m. for the men and 8:30 a.m. for the women. The men will run an 8,000 meter course with the women set for 5,000 meters.

This meet will feature quite a deep field of competition for the Islanders as seven of the eight top ranked teams in the men's region are competing and four of the top 10 teams on the women's side.

Scheduled to compete in the university division include Baylor, Houston, Houston Baptist, LSU, Lubbock Christian (men), Monterrey Tech (men), Prairie View A&M, Rice (women), Sam Houston State, SMU (women), Texas State, Texas-Pan American, UTSA and Wayland Baptist.

"This meet should show us where we are on both the men's and women's sides with the great competition we'll be facing this weekend," said cross country head coach Shawn Flanagan.
