RONOH SET TO MAKE RUN FOR GOLD AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi cross country runner Anne Ronoh runs for the gold on Monday when she competes in the NCAA Cross Country Championship in Terre Haute, Ind. The race is slated to begin at 11:08 Central.
"We have a goal of finishing in the top half of the field, but it would be great to finish Top 20 and earn All-America honors," said Islander cross country Shawn Flanagan of the field that has over 200 entries. "I want her to go out and run a strong race and continue her trend of improving each time out. It will be a challenge for her with the quality of the field and the size of it. The weather is also cooler than she is used to."
Ronoh is the first Islander female to qualify for meet and joins Shadrack Songok as the only cross country runners ever to run in the national meet. Ronoh qualified after an 11th-place finish at the NCAA South Central Region with a time of 21:05. It was the best finish ever by an Islander at the regional meet.
