Logen Bourque Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-Region

AVCA DIVISION I REGIONAL AWARDS

CORPUS CHRISTI – Logen Bourque continues to make Islanders' history, as she is the first Islander to be named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Honorable Mention All-Region Team, announced today. The senior earned the honors in the Southwest Region after compiling an impressive 11.39 assists per set and leading the Islanders to its first Southland Conference Tournament victory in school history.

"This is a tremendous day for Logen as well as Islanders Volleyball and the Southland Conference," Head Coach Tony Graystone said. "It's really tough to make the all-region team and this is truly a special honor. Logen had an outstanding senior year and now finishes her record-setting career as our most successful and decorated Islander ever.

"I can't say enough how proud we are of Logen and how much we appreciate everything she put into leading our team and making herself the best player she could be."

Bourque, the most decorated student-athlete in program history, wraps a stellar career as the all-time career-assist leader in Islanders' history with 4,516 assists. She also set the all-time assist mark for a single season with 1,310 assists and moved into second place in the record books with 1,096 career digs.

"This is a great milestone for our volleyball program," Director of Athletics Scott Lazenby said. "Having one of our student-athletes earn all-region recognition is yet another step as we continue our forward progress. Tony and his staff have done a great job of improving the talent level of the Islanders in his time here, and Logen is an example of that.

"On a personal level, I couldn't be happier for Logen - she is a model student-athlete and an outstanding individual and this honor is well deserved."

The Houston native tallied 12 double-doubles during the season while garnering First Team All-Southland Conference honors. She propelled the Islanders to a 20-12 overall record and a school-best 13-5 Southland Conference mark. She was named to the Southland Conference All-Tournament team after registering 12.0 assists per set in the tournament.

Off the court, Bourque is just as impressive. She was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 Second Team last month after earning a 3.919 overall GPA.

Bourque is joined by fellow Southland player Sara Pope of Oral Roberts, who was named honorable mention for the South Region.
