Top Performance #6: Logen Bourque's Triple-Double

CORPUS CHRISTI – Throughout the summer of 2013, will look back at the best moments and athletic performances from the 2012-13 school year.

Every Thursday, we will bring you one of the top 10 individual performances, with Tuesdays bringing the year's top 10 moments. Be sure to keep tabs on throughout the summer to celebrate all the great moments.

It was a remarkable season for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team in 2012. The team had historic wins to celebrate, set a school record with 21 wins and placed third in the Southland Conference, the best finish in program history.

And the individual accomplishments were plenty as well. Senior Shannon Hullum was a First Team All-Southland selection and was the rock of the team. Players like Ivy Baresh, Brianna Brink and Brooke Alverson all had standout moments. The most impressive outing, though, came from the soft-spoken on-court leader of the team.

Logen Bourque is an excellent student, an incredibly kind person and a soft-spoken junior from Houston. On the court, though, she is anything but – a fierce competitor who gets the most out of her teammates and was the keystone in the Islanders' breakthrough year.

The all-time leader in career assists, Bourque was no stranger to setting records. But in the second-to-last match of the regular season, she accomplished something that hadn't been seen since 2005 – a triple-double. With a career best 10 kills (.714 attack percentage) and 13 digs to go along with 39 assists, Bourque led the Islanders to a 3-1 victory over Lamar on Nov. 8. It was the 20th win of the season for the team, another first in program history.
