CORPUS CHRISTI – Logen Bourque has been named the GoIslanders.com Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Pepsi. Bourque earned the award after her first career triple-double. She was also named the Southland Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Bourque recorded the first triple-double of her career on Thursday night against Lamar, picking up 10 kills on a .714 hitting percentage, 39 assists and 13 digs as the Islanders earned a 3-1 win over the Lady Cardinals for the 20th win of the season, a first in Islanders history. She also added three service aces in the match. Bourque became the first Islanders player to notch a triple-double since the 2005 season.
The setter played sparingly in the season finale, recording two kills on three attempts, picking up 27 assists and three more service aces while adding one block solo and block assist each. For the week, Bourque hit .706 and had no attack errors while the Islanders wrapped up the third seed in the Southland Conference Tournament, the first appearance for the team since 2007.
Bourque and the Islanders will be back in action on Friday at the tournament, taking on No. 6-seed Oral Roberts at 1:30 p.m. on Central Arkansas' home court in the Farris Center. The Sugar Bears are hosting the tournament this season in Conway, Ark.
