Texas A&M – Corpus Christi junior setter Logen Bourque was named the Southland Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, earning the honor after her first career triple-double and helping her team to a school-record 21 wins. She shares the weekly honor with Deveney Wells-Gibson of Sam Houston State.
The Houston native had a rare night in program history, picking up 10 kills on a .714 hitting percentage, 39 assists and 13 digs for the first triple-double by a Islanders player since the 2005 season. In addition to the double-digit numbers, she also added three service aces and a block assist in the 3-1 win over Lamar, the 20th of the season and a first in school history.
"Logen had a good all around week, Lamar was her best match though," said head coach Tony Graystone. "Triple-doubles are hard to come by, and hers was a solid one. She hit for a high percentage, threw some aces in there and just played good defense. It was a really nice match for her; we needed her to seal the win for us and she did a good job."
Bourque played sparingly in the season finale, recording two kills on three attempts, picking up 27 assists and three more service aces while adding one block solo and one block assist.
For the week, Bourque hit .706 and had no attack errors while the Islanders wrapped up the third seed in the Southland Conference Tournament, the first appearance for the team since 2007.
Bourque and the Islanders will be back in action on Friday at the tournament, taking on No. 6-seed Oral Roberts at 1:30 p.m. on Central Arkansas' home court in the Farris Center. The Sugar Bears are hosting the tournament this season in Conway, Ark.
