Islanders Face Stephen F. Austin in First of Final Two Road Matches of the Year

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball Team will be back on the road for their second-to-last away match of the year on Thursday when they face the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks in a Southland Conference contest. The two teams will play in Nacogdoches at 7 p.m. in Shelton Gym on the first leg of a two-match road trip that will conclude against Sam Houston on Saturday in Huntsville.

The Islanders come into the match with a record of 13-16 overall and are currently 5-7 in the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks are also 5-7 in league play, with a season record of 12-15. The game is an important one for the two teams and their postseason hopes. The schools are tied for seventh in the Southland Conference standings, with the top eight advancing to the conference tournament at the end of the season in Conway, Ark.

Logen Bourque is coming off of a record-setting match last time out. The sophomore setter became the all-time leader in assists as an Islanders player while also becoming just the fourth to surpass the 1,000-assists mark in a single season. Micah Nolan is now just 18 digs away from setting a new career record for digs as an Islander and her 555 digs this season has her 20 away from setting the new single-season record for the program.

Brianna Brink (248), Brooke Alverson (246) and Shannon Hullum (220) have all topped the 200-kill mark this season for Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. Alverson also leads the team in total blocks with 85 while Tina Chavis is second at 67 and Jordan Flemmer comes in third with 57 on the year.

Mary Caitlin Bottles will lead SFA into the match with her team-high 270 kills. Katzy Randall (229) and Jill Ivy (209) are also above the 200-kill plateau for the Ladyjacks. Paige Holland leads SFA with 1,005 assists on the year while Madison Hanlan has a team-high 520 digs this season.
