The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball Team will be on its longest Southland Conference road trip of the season this week, facing Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark. on Thursday night before taking on Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La. on Saturday afternoon.
The Islanders go into the Thursday night matchup with a record of 12-15 overall and are 4-6 in Southland matches. The defending Southland Conference Champion Sugar Bears of UCA are currently 13-11 on the year and 7-3 in league play. Last season, UCA won the only meeting between the teams by a 3-0 final in Corpus Christi.
Logen Bourque and Micah Nolan head into the two-match set within striking distance of two of the Islanders all-time records. Bourque currently has 924 digs on the year, just 76 away from being just the fourth player in program history to reach the 1,000-assist mark in a season. She is also 77 assists away from tying the career record for assists by a Texas A&M – Corpus Christi player Paula Araujo with 1965 from 2005-06.
Nolan is also nearing an all-time Islanders record, needing just 57 digs to tie the all-time school record set by Kaley Fehrenkamp from 2001-04. Nolan also needs just 60 digs to become the new single-season record holder for digs at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.
The Sugar Bears are led offensively by Jessica Nagy with 209 kills, followed by Taylor Hammonds at 198 and Lindsey Barron with 168. Marissa Collins has a team-high 757 assists while Cristin Curl is tops with 393 digs on the year.
