Islanders Travel to Play League-Leading UTSA in Midweek Tilt

The Texas A&M –Corpus Christi Volleyball Team will take to the road on Wednesday for a match against first-place UTSA in a Southland Conference match. The two teams will square off in a 6:30 p.m. match at the UTSA Convocation Center in San Antonio.

The Islanders come into the contest with a record of 11-14 overall and 3-5 in Southland play. UTSA is 14-8 this season and 8-0 in league matches. The two teams met earlier this month in Corpus Christi, with the Roadrunners taking a 3-0 final at the Dugan Wellness Center.

Libero Micah Nolan, the reigning Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, will lead the team into the tough road contest against the #1 team in the league. The sophomore is currently third in the nation with 479 digs on the year. Brianna Brink leads the team with 206 kills, while four other Islanders currently have over 100 on the season. Logen Bourque is tops on the squad with 854 assists and is second on the team with 240 digs.

UTSA is on an eight-match winning streak coinciding with the start of Southland play. In each of the eight matches, the Roadrunners have taken to win by a 3-0 final, having yet to lose a set in conference matches. Whitney Walls has a team-high 231 kills, while Elise Huskey and Dempsey Thornton are also above the 200-kill plateau. Kelsey Schwirtlich has 827 assists to lead the team while Kelsey Jewasko leads in digs with 426.
