The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball Team will host the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions on Saturday in a 1 p.m. Southland Conference match at the Dugan Wellness Center. The annual Islanders Invasion will be held following the conclusion of the match.
The Islanders are 10-13 on the season and hold a 2-5 mark in Southland Conference matches. Southeastern La. comes into the match with a record of 4-20 overall and 0-7 in league play.
Micah Nolan had a school-record 39 digs in Texas A&M – Corpus Christi's last match, a 3-2 win over Nicholls on Thursday night for the second Southland win of the year. In addition to Nolan's career night, Shannon Hullum (16) and Tina Chavis (13) each set a career-high in kills against the Colonels.
Nolan currently leads the Southland Conference with 456 digs on the year while Logen Bourque ranks second in the league with 812 total kills. Brianna Brink leads the team with 195 kills on the season, and the Islanders have five people with over 100 kills.
The Lady Lions are on a Texas swing and lost a 3-0 match to league-leading UTSA on Thursday in San Antonio. Courtney Donald leads the team with 198 kills, while Lindsey Young has a team-high 630 assists and Megan McMillin a team-best 271 digs.
Following the 1 p.m. match, the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi basketball programs, in conjunction with the cheer and dance squads and pep band, will kick off the 2011-12 season with Islanders Invasion.
