The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball Team will host the Nicholls Colonels on Thursday night in the team's annual "Dig Pink" match, with the pink helping promote breast cancer awareness. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Dugan Wellness Center, with pre-match activities on the east lawn of the University Center set to begin at 5 p.m.
The Corpus Christi Gas Department will be the match sponsor and will hand out 200 pink backpacks to fans as they arrive. Islanders Athletics will be handing out 200 "Dig Pink" shirts to fans at the match.
The Islanders come into the match with a 9-13 overall record, and are 1-5 in Southland Conference play. The Colonels are 15-7 this year with a 2-4 mark in league matches.
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi will be led into the match by Brooke Alverson with her team-high 184 kills and .233 attack percentage. Logen Bourque leads the team with 765 assists, good for seventh in the Southland. Micah Nolan's 5.02 digs per set is third in the league while her 417 digs are second among individuals in the conference.
Sarah Terry and her .364 attack percentage lead Nicholls while Jennifer Brandy is tops on the team in kills with 195 this season. Jordan Karst's 469 assists lead the Colonels while Rachel Yezak has a team-high 231 digs.
