The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi volleyball team will be playing its first home matches of the season this Friday and Saturday while hosting the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Islanders Classic.

All matches will be played at the Dugan Wellness Center with the Islanders playing the Sam Houston State Bearkats at 2:00 p.m. and the Texas Southern Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night. They return to action on Saturday when they play the Houston Baptist Huskies at 1:00 p.m. and the Villanova Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. in the final match of the tournament.

The Islanders are currently 4-4 on the year coming into the tourney after a 1-3 performance at the Mississippi State Maroon Classic, a 2-1 record at the Northern Arizona Fiesta Bowl Tournament and a win over Texas-Pan American this past Tuesday in Edinburg.

The Bearkats come into the match with a record of 4-5 on the season and sit in second place of the current Southland Conference Western Division standings behind the Islanders. The Tigers are 1-5 on the season, the Huskies are 3-5 and the Wildcats are 5-3 this year.

The Islanders are led this season by Emma Ridley with 96 kills and Isabella Arcidiacono with 81 kills. Ridley is second in the Southland with a 3.31 kills/set while Arcidiacono was named to the all-tournament team at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament along with Logen Bourque, who leads the Islanders in assists with 239 in the first eight matches.

Micah Nolan leads the team defensively with 122 digs. Brooke Alverson has totaled 18 blocks this year and is followed by the 17 total from Jordan Flemmer.

As a team, the Islanders lead the league with a .145 opponent hitting percentage.

The Bearkats are led by Carli Kolbe with 99 kills on the season, second-best in the league. Kim Black is tops on the team defensively with 35 total blocks.
