The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi volleyball team will travel to Edinburg on Tuesday matchup against the Texas -Pan American Broncs. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
The Islanders are 3-4 on the season and look to even their record after going 2-1 at the Northern Arizona Fiesta Bowl Tournament this past weekend. The team lost its opening match against the host Lumberjacks on Friday, but swept the second day of action against Maryland Eastern Shore and Rider on Saturday.
Freshmen Isabella Arcidiacono and Logen Bourque were named to the all-tournament team for their play during the weekend, with Arcidiacono leading the team with 39 kills in the three matches, including 16 against Maryland Eastern Shore. Arcidiacono also added three block solos and five block assists while Bourque totaled seven block assists and 17 kills. Bourque also recorded her first 40 assist match of her career against Maryland Eastern Shore while recording at least 35 assists in each of the three contests for a total of 113 on the weekend.
The Broncs of UTPA are 1-6 on the season after going 0-3 in the UT Arlington Maverick Classic last weekend.
For the season, Emma Ridley continues to lead the team at 88 kills with Arcidiacono following in second with 70 on the year. Bourque surpassed the 200 assist mark and now sits at 209 for the year. Jordan Flemmer leads the team with 17 total blocks while Brooke Alverson is right behind her at 16 total blocks.
The team looks to even its record at 4-4 and pick up the first midweek win of the season on Tuesday night as they prepare to host the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Islanders Classic starting Friday.
The Islanders will host Sam Houston State, Villanova, Houston Baptist and Texas Southern this weekend in the two-day tournament. Fans interested in purchasing tickets to the upcoming matches can call 825-BALL(2255) for details.
