MAVERICKS SWEEP PAST ISLANDERS

The Texas A&M-Corpus Islanders (9-21, 2-13) were swept in three sets (25-23, 25-20, 26-24) Friday evening at the Dugan Wellness Center by UT Arlington (12-15, 8-7). Emma Ridley added 17 more kills to her impressive total.

In the first set both teams went back and forth with the Mavericks and Islanders exchanging the lead eight times. The first set also saw the match tied 14 times between the teams. UT Arlington scored the last two points in the first winning the set.

UTA held TAMUCC to a .000 attack percentage in route to a 25-20 second set win. Courtney Wypiszynski had seven of her match-high 15 digs in the second.

The third was another closely contested set that saw both teams exchange the lead three times. Leading 24-23 the Islanders had a chance to extend the match, but UT Arlington went on to score the last three points of the set to finish off the match.

Ridley now has 445 kills on the season.

Tomorrow is the season finale against Texas State with the match starting at 2 p.m. at the Dugan Wellness Center.
