The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team will continue Southland Conference play on Friday night as they travel to Beaumont to take on the Lamar Lady Cardinals.
The Islanders enter the match with a record of 7-17 overall and 0-9 in Southland Conference play while Lamar stands at 11-10 on the year and 6-4 in Southland matches.
In the first meeting of the year between the teams, TAMUCC started quickly, winning the first set before dropping the next three to lose a 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18) decision to the Lady Cardinals. It was a closely contested affair as the two teams combined for 25 ties and 10 lead changes throughout the match.
Emma Ridley comes into the match for the Islanders in third place on the all-time single season kills list with 354. Ridley needs just 20 kills to set a new single season record as the current record is 373, set by Lauren Smith in the 2002 season.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Islanders as they play Lamar on Friday night and travel to Huntsville to play Sam Houston State on Halloween. They will face the Bearkats at Johnson Coliseum with a 2 PM start.
