The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team will open up the home part of its Southland Conference schedule this Saturday as they play host to UTSA. The match is set for a 4 PM start at the Moody Fieldhouse on campus at TAMUCC.

The Islanders come into the match with a record of 7-10 on the year after winning their first home match of the season against Texas-Pan American on Tuesday night. TAMUCC is 0-2 in Southland play after a pair of losses to Texas State and UT Arlington last week to open the conference slate.

"It is important to get our first conference win of the season," said head coach Tony Graystone. "We dropped a couple on the road last week and you only get so many chances at home so you want to take care of those."

On Tuesday, Emma Ridley had a spectacular night in setting a new Islander career best for kills in a three-set match with 24. It also set a new season-high in the Southland and a new personal best for Ridley. Ridley now has 254 kills on the season to lead the Islanders.

"We're happy about how we played on Tuesday and yesterday was a good day of practice," said Graystone. "We put some new things in our system to get ready for conference and are looking forward to having them execute that stuff this weekend."

UTSA comes into the match with a record of 4-11 with a SLC record of 0-2. They play at Prarie View A&M on Friday night before heading to Corpus Christi for the match on Saturday.

"It's going to be a tough match, UTSA is very good team and we know we are going to have to play well to beat them," said Graystone. "In a home and home situation like this where we know we are going to have to go there later on, it would be nice to get the first one while we can."
