Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball player Beth Fionda has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team for District VI of the University Division. Fionda was a third-team selection.
Fionda, a sophomore from Austin, is an opposite hitter that is averaging 1.9 kills per set and 0.71 digs per set while playing in 21 of 22 matches this season. Fionda had a season and career-high 14 kills this year against Florida Atlantic. She also totaled a season and career-high nine digs in a Southland Conference road match at Northwestern State.
On the academic side, Fionda currently has a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies in the College of Education.
Other members of the District VI team included SLC members Emily Jones Wilkes from Texas State on the First Team, Yelena Enwere from Northwestern State, Laurel Kuepker and Shelly Swendig of Stephen F. Austin on the Second Team and Shalayne Blythe of Lamar and Kendra Rowland of UTSA on the third team.
