ISLANDER VOLLEYBALL OPENS SLC PLAY THIS WEEKEND

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team will open up Southland Conference play this weekend with matches against Texas State and UT Arlington. The matches will take place on campus at Moody Fieldhouse.

The Islanders are 2-8 on the year and looking forward to starting SLC play.

The Islanders first take on Texas State at 7 p.m. on Friday night. The Bobcats will also be seeing their first SLC action of the season, and come into the match with a record of 7-10.

The Bobcats are led offensively by Jessica Weynand with 149 kills and Melinda Cave with 117 kills.

Saturday afternoon, UT Arlington travels to Moody Fieldhouse for the Islanders second SLC match of the weekend.

The Mavericks are 4-10 overall on the year and play their first SLC match on Friday night against UTSA.

The Mavericks are led in kills by Ally Wade with 106 and Christy Driscoll with 88.

The matches during the weekend are the first two of three straight home SLC contests for the Islanders. They will host UTSA on October 3 before their first road match of the season against Sam Houston State.
