The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team will begin its third season under head coach Kimberly Martinez on Saturday when it takes to the court the start of two-a-day practices.
Martinez's third Islander team will be made up of eight returnees including seniors Kasey McBrearty, Amber Benjamin and Lauren Paslay and nine newcomers. Also returning for the Islanders are sophomores Molly McCabe, Jessica Jennett, Beth Fionda, Meagan Luber, and Kandyce Nielson.
"I am definitely excited to get practice started," said Martinez. "We have a good group of returnees who have been working hard this summer and a bunch of fresh faces to mix with the old. The newcomers have been showing a lot of energy."
A&M-Corpus Christi begins its season with a trip to Clarksville, Tenn. for the Lady Govs Classic on Aug. 29-30. The Islanders open the home portion of their schedule the following weekend with the Islander Holiday Inn-Emerald Beach Invitational. TAMUCC will host UALR, Colorado and Texas Southern Sept. 5-6.
