This Sunday will mark the final home match in the careers of Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Women's Tennis seniors Doris Kuselj, Leanne Mascall and Mia Matuszak. The three have been a part of building the team into one of the top teams in the Southland Conference.
Kuselj and Mascall have been with the program for four years, while Matuszak came after her freshman season at Texas Tech. The three have been on teams that have improved their finish each season, and are still in contention for a Southland Conference Championship this year.
The match against Oral Roberts at 12 p.m. on Sunday is a big one for seeding and overall finish in the Southland Conference standings. A win on Sunday and a loss by Southeastern Louisiana would give the team a share of the title in 2013. It is also the last regular season match for the women before starting play in the Southland Conference Tournament on April 25 at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on the Lamar campus in Beaumont.
The team has been the only one to beat Southeastern Louisiana, winning 5-2 over the Lady Lions on the road earlier this month.
In addition to being one of the top teams in the conference, the Islanders are also one of the top teams in the nation for home attendance. The women are ranked No. 10 in average attendance among all Division I teams in the nation.
Georgia ranks No. 1 in the nation and is followed by Baylor, Florida, Wyoming, Colorado State, Illinois, Tennessee, Tulsa, Notre Dame and the Islanders.
Please come out and help the Islanders continue the great attendance and cap off the season with another outstanding crowd at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
