The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's tennis team will open their home schedule on Sunday afternoon with a match against Texas - Pan American at the Corpus Christi Country Club. Match time is set for 1:30 p.m. due to weather after originally being scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
The Islanders are now 1-1 on the season after beating Central Arkansas by a 7-0 final the last time they were on the court. That win put the team at 1-0 in Southland Conference play early in the 2011 season.
Mirna Cicak made her debut against the Bears, taking a straight-sets victory at the No. 1 singles position. As a team, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi won each match in both singles and doubles to make it a clean sweep against UCA.
The Lady Broncs of UTPA come in with a 0-3 record in the 2011 season. They have lost matches against SMU, TCU and Texas State to being the year. They have been tapped to repeat as the Great West Conference Champions after winning the title a season ago. They are led by Malin Andersen at the No. 1 singles position.
The last time the two teams met, the Islanders took a 4-2 win over the Lady Broncs. Due to weather conditions, once the dual match is clinched by a team reaching the required four points, play will be stopped.
