The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program added Sandra Burges during the spring signing period as Director of Tennis Steve Moore and his coaching staff continue to build the roster for contention in the Southland Conference.
Burges is a native of Cuarte (Zaragoza), Spain and will be enrolling at the university and compete for the tennis team this coming fall as a freshman. Her highest ranking in Spain was a No. 87 national ranking among all senior levels, including players ranked by the WTA, the worldwide professional tennis tour for women. She was the winner of the Aragon Regional Under-16 Championship and finished as the runner-up by teams in the Spain National 2nd Division Championship.
She is the daughter of Juan Burges and Ana Cristina Madorran and has been around tennis her entire life as her father is a teacher as well as a tennis coach.
Burges plans to major in business at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi while helping the Islander women's tennis program compete for the Southland Conference Championship.
