WOMEN'S TENNIS HITS ROAD FOR PAIR OF SOUTHLAND MATCHES
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis team will be in action this weekend with a pair of important Southland Conference matches on the road. The Islanders play Stephen F. Austin on Saturday at 3 PM in Nacogdoches before traveling to Huntsville for a 2 PM match on Sunday against Sam Houston State.
The Islanders come into the weekend with a 6-3 record overall and a perfect 2-0 record in Southland Conference matches. The Ladyjacks of SFA are 4-1 on the season and have yet to play a Southland match. The Bearkats are 1-3 on the season and also have yet to play a Southland match.
Sophomore Mirna Cicak leads the team with a 6-3 record at No. 1 singles while freshman Doris Kuselj is 6-1 on the season at the No. 2 spot. The Islanders feature a young lineup with three freshmen and a sophomore in their top six players.
The 2-0 Southland start is the best in the history of the women's program and the Islanders hope to continue the strong start with a pair of conference wins.
