Soccer Adds Denmark's Poulsen to Incoming Class
CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer team has added to its class for 2014 with the signing of Nanna Bach Poulsen to a National Letter of Intent. Poulsen is a talented scoring presence who hails from Ribe, Denmark.
"With her international experience, Nanna is very technical and understands the nuances of the game," head coach Shanna Caldwell said. "Her vision and movement on and off the ball will bring an added dimension to our attack and compliment our returning front line."
Poulsen was the leading scorer for Varde, her club team, which she has played with since she was 14. She netted five goals in the 2012 season for the under-18 squad, which plays at the top level in Denmark. Most recently, she appeared in eight games for the senior team, scoring single goals in each of the team's last two matches, both of which resulted in victories for Varde.
Poulsen joins the five players who signed with the Islanders in February as part of the team's incoming 2014 class. Zoe Cole (Friendswood, Texas), Kimberly Isaacson (Missouri City, Texas), Jacey Love (Belton, Texas), Bri Lugo (Brazoswood, Texas) and Christina Remmes (Kingwood, Texas) all inked NLIs earlier this calendar year.
A&M-Corpus Christi will open the 2014 season on the road with a contest against Houston on Aug. 22, with the home opener slated for Sept. 5 against the University of Texas at Dugan Stadium.
