Golf Sits 11th After Two Rounds of Islanders Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team shot a first-day 635 (319-316) to sit in 11th place through the first two rounds of the 2014 Islanders Classic. Krista Fenniak (77-77) and Lindsay Biehler (78-76) led the way with matching scores of 154 through the opening day.

Ana Paredes (83-80—163) and Vanessa Johnson (81-83—164) rounded out the scorers for the Islanders. Claudia Galindo shot 87 in the opening round but had to withdraw for the second round due to injury.

Lamar (302-295—597) leads all teams, while Houston Baptist (292-310—602) sits in second place. Oklahoma City (301-305—606), North Texas (308-307—615) and Central Arkansas (308-309—617) round out the top five.

Oklahoma City's Elia Folch leads all individuals with a one-under 143 (70-73), while Sam Houston State's Alisa White (72-74—146) is three shots back. Kelly Erasmus of Lamar (74-73—147) is in third, while four players are tied for fourth at 148.

The third round will tee off with a shotgun start at 8:15 on Tuesday morning at Corpus Christi Country Club. The Islanders will tee off on holes 10-12, and will be paired with Bradley and South Dakota in the final round.
