LINCOLN, Neb. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team shot a third-round 333 to finish in 12th place at the Chip-N-Club Invitational on Tuesday with a three-round 977. It is the first tournament of the year for the Islanders.
Senior Lindsay Biehler posted the best round of the day for the Islanders, as her 79 in the final 18 was good for a three-round 233 (77-77-79) and a 23rd place finish. Fellow senior Krista Fenniak shot an 81 on Tuesday to wrap her first tourney of 2013-14 with a 239 (79-79-81) for 34th place.
Biehler carded three birdies in the final round, giving her seven for the tournament. She posted a pair of doubles on the back nine, with six bogeys also on her card. Fenniak got out to a rough start in the final round before finishing strong, as she notched four pars and a birdie in her last five holes of the event.
After a sparkling second round, Galindo stumbled slightly in the third round, but finished her first collegiate tournament with a flourish. The freshman tallied the only eagle for the Islanders all weekend, carding a three on the par-5 eighth to wrap up play for the event.
The Islanders will now have a few weeks off before returning to the links on Sept. 30 for the ORU Shootout. For all the latest on Islanders Golf, be sure to like the team on Facebook (Islanders Golf) and follow them on Twitter and Instagram (@IslandersGolf).
