Women's Golf Earns APR Public Recognition Award for Second Straight Season
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team has been recognized by the NCAA for its perfect score in the NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate, the organization announced today. The Islanders posted a perfect score of 1000, their second consecutive year achieving that milestone.

Sophomore Vanessa Johnson (Corpus Christi/Carroll) has been named to the All-Southland Conference Women’s Golf Second Team, the league announced today. Johnson was joined by senior Nikki Dunn in earning recognition from the Southland, as Dunn collected honorable mention.

Johnson Finishes Second, Islanders Fifth at Southland Golf Championship
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi women’s golf team shot a 306 in the third and final round of the Southland Golf Championship, finishing in fifth place as a team with a 905 for the three-day event. Sophomore Vanessa Johnson shot 77 on Wednesday to finish with a 218.

Sophomore Vanessa Johnson shot a 72 in the second round of the 2013 Southland Women’s Golf Championship to sit in second place overall through 36 holes of the event. As a team, the Islanders sit in fourth place, 12 strokes behind leader Central Arkansas heading into the final round.

Islanders Golf Signs Two Players to National Letters of Intent
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi women’s golf team signed Ana Paredes (San Antonio, Texas) and Claudia Galindo (Madrid, Spain) to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period, head coach Carol Blackmar announced today. The two players will join the Islanders beginning in the 2013-14 academic year.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi saved its best round for today, shooting a 296 in the third and final round of the 35th Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational to finish 6th at the event. Nikki Dunn shot a 71 for the day, while three other players delivered 75s.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team delivered a second-round 306 to remain in seventh place at the 35th Annual Pat Bradley FIU Invitational. Sophomore Vanessa Johnson’s 74 led the way for the Islanders, who trimmed six shots off their first round score. Johnson sits 17th with a 153 (79-74) through 36 holes.

Krista Fenniak led the Islanders with a 76 to sit 16th through the first 18 holes, while Taylor Slagle is one shot back in 21st.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team will embark on its final event of the fall season with the 35th Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational from Oct. 21-23. The event will run three days, with 18 holes slated for each day at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club. The Cypress Links course is set up for a par-72 with a length of 6,261 yards.

Vanessa Johnson Captures Harold Funston Invitational Title as Islanders Finish Second
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Corpus Christi native Vanessa Johnson collected medalist honors and the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team finished second at the Harold Funston Invitational, hosted by Sam Houston State, on Tuesday afternoon. Johnson shot a 214 (69-72-73) to win the individual title by four shots, while teammate Krista Fenniak finished third.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team shot a third-round 310 to finish in 10th place at the Oregon State University Invitational this week at Trysting Tree Golf Course. The Islanders delivered a 921 (298-313-310) for the three-round event.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team shot an opening-round 298 and followed that up with a 313 in the afternoon session to sit in 10th place through two rounds of the Oregon State Invitational. Vanessa Johnson leads the way with a 7-over 151 through 36 holes. The final 18 holes of the event will be played tomorrow at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team will open its 2012 fall season on Monday, Sept. 17, at the Oregon State Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event will be held at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, with 16 teams competing in the event.
