CORPUS CHRISTI – The duo of Taylor Slagle and Krista Fenniak of the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team finished 33rd at the Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship. Slagle shot a four-over 76 in today's final round of the event, which was held in Powell, Ohio.
Slagle had three birdies in her final action in Powell, delivering 4s on the par-5 sixth and 14th to go along with a three at the par-4 second. Fenniak had a tough day in her final round, shooting 88.
After a slow start in the opening round with an 86 in the alternating shot portion of the event, the duo roared back on day two on Wednesday, delivering a 2-under 70. Tennessee's A.J. Newell and Erica Popson won the event.
In other action, junior Lindsay Biehler took an eighth-place finish at the Canyon Springs Collegiate Open in San Antonio, wrapping the event with a 78 today to finish at plus-10 for the three-round event. The Austin native shot 76-72 yesterday in the opening two rounds of the Open.
