Top Moments #9: Krista Fenniak Knocks Home an Eagle from 110 yards at Southland Conference
The Southland Conference Championships for women's golf consists of three grueling rounds. Krista Fenniak knew this before going into the tournament that the next three days would require concentration and the ability to perform under pressure.
In the opening round of the championships, the sophomore delivered a 79 for the Islanders shooting two-over on at the front nine with four bogeys and two birdies. After the turn, she led the team with four birdies but had three double bogeys to finish the day tied for 16th.
But it is what happened the next day that leads us to Top Moment #9 of the year. The Edmonton, Alberta, native opened the first hole with a double bogey. Coming off a shot like that can be pretty tough to one's mental psyche, but not for her.
She came off the tee on the second feeling pretty confident. Her wedge to the green landed softly, then rolled toward the cup, falling for an eagle 2 at one of the toughest holes on the course.
She added an eagle on the 8th in the third round, to give her two of the four eagles at the tournament. She finished the event in a tie for 16th.
