HOUSTON – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi women's golf team faces its final pre-conference tune-up this week, as it travels to Riverbend Country Club for the HBU Husky Women's Invitational on Monday, April 2, and Tuesday, April 3. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday at the course, which plays to a par-72 at 6,441 yards. Both rounds will feature an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
The Islanders will send the same lineup to the HBU Invitational that they have for the last three events. Senior Ryann White is joined by juniors Nikki Dunn and Taylor Slagle, sophomore Krista Fenniak and freshman Vanessa Johnson. Sophomore Lindsay Biehler will play as an individual for the Islanders as well.
Several Southland schools will join A&M – Corpus Christi in the 12-team field. Lamar, Sam Houston State, McNeese State and Stephen F. Austin are all taking part, as is host and future Southland member Houston Baptist. The remaining teams are Texas – Pan American, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma City, Redlands CC and McLennan CC.
This is the final event for the Islanders prior to the Southland Conference Championship, which is scheduled for Monday, April 16, through Wednesday, April 18, in Blanco, Texas, and is hosted by Texas State. Texas A&M – Corpus Christi has placed in the top five in three of its four events this spring, the lone exception being last week's UALR Women's Golf Classic.
