LAS VEGAS – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi women's golf team will look to follow up a strong performance at the Rio Verde Invitational last weekend, when they tee off at the Bucknell Women's Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The event will be played on Las Vegas' Paiute Golf Club Snow Mountain Course, a 7,164-yard par-72.
The event will be 36 holes beginning on Friday morning followed by 18 on Saturday morning. The Islanders are coming off an impressive fifth-place finish at Rio Verde, one of the most competitive courses and fields they take on this year. Ryann White finished fourth individually at the Invitational.
The Islanders will be one of 18 teams at the event, including Akron and Oral Roberts, who A&M – Corpus Christi has played alongside already this year. Along with host Bucknell, the other teams participating are Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Washington, Gustavus Adolphus, Idaho State, Indiana State, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, San Francisco, Southern Utah, Utah Valley, Weber State, Western Illinois, Wyoming and Wofford.
A&M – Corpus Christi will be paired with Bucknell and Weber State for the opening two rounds and will start play on the sixth through eighth holes with a shotgun start. Along with White, the Islanders fivesome includes junior Nikki Dunn, freshman Vanessa Johnson, junior Taylor Slagle and sophomore Krista Fenniak. All five posted at least one round of 76 or better at Rio Verde.
