Islanders Golf Kicks off 10-Day Road Trip at Rio Verde Invitational

ROUND 1 PAIRINGS

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi women's golf team embarks on a 10-day road trip today, as it will travel to the Rio Verde (Ariz.) Invitational this weekend followed by the Bucknell Women's Invitational in Las Vegas next weekend. Live scoring for this weekend will be available on Golfstat.com.

The Rio Verde Invitational features 16 teams competing in three rounds at the Quail Run Course at Rio Verde Country Club. The course will play to a par of 71 at 6,260 yards. The event is 54 holes, with 18 each day from Friday to Sunday. Friday's round will commence at 1 p.m. MST, with Saturday and Sunday slated to tee off at 8 a.m. All three rounds will begin with shotgun starts.

The Islanders are one of 14 squads returning to the event from 2011. Wichita State and Yale are the two newbies in the field, and they will join Akron, Arkansas-Little Rock, Ball State, Bradley, Eastern Michigan, Kansas, Missouri State, Northern Arizona, Ohio, Penn State, Toledo, Xavier and host Western Michigan. EMU won the 2011 event, while both Kansas and WMU have taken team titles in the past.

A&M – Corpus Christi finished 14th at last year's Rio Verde Invitational, led by top-15 finishes from Ryann White (10th) and Nikki Dunn (12th). White and Dunn lead the Islanders five into this year's event, and they will be joined by freshman Vanessa Johnson, junior Taylor Slagle and sophomore Krista Fenniak. The Islanders will be paired with Bradley and Ball State, and will tee off on holes 13-16.
