CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team will embark on its second event of the fall season on Monday and Tuesday, when it takes part in the 2011 Bob Hurley ORU Shootout, hosted by Oral Roberts. The tournament features 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday at the Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
The Islanders will alter their lineup slightly for the event, as newcomer Taylor Slagle will not be able to participate due to injury. Stepping into the Islanders fivesome will be sophomore Cristina Reynoso. The native of Mexico City joins senior Ryann White, junior Nikki Dunn and fellow sophomores Lindsay Biehler and Krista Fenniak in the lineup.
In their first event of the 2011 fall season, the Islanders took eighth place in the Chip-N-Club Invitational, hosted by the University of Nebraska. Slagle was the Islanders' top finisher, coming in 13th, with White just behind in 15th.
The Bob Hurley Invitational features 12 teams in addition to the Islanders and host ORU. Three other Southland squads – Sam Houston State, Lamar and Stephen F. Austin – will join the Islanders at the event. Also traveling from the Lone Star State are Texas-Pan American and UTEP. Rounding out the field will be Arkansas State, Drake, Northern Iowa, Southern Utah, McClennan CC, Oklahoma City and Redlands CC.
