shot the only round under par in the Southland Conference Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday to lead the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi golf team to a fourth-place finish. The junior finished in third place with a three-day 225 (82-72-71).
The Islanders had a third-day 306 to finish with a three-round 930 (313-311-306), improving each round of the event. UTSA took the team title with a 900 (306-297-297), while Lamar had a 907 (297-313-297) to finish second. Texas State was third with a three-round 925 (308-313-304). Sam Houston State (320-309-312-941), Central Arkansas (320-322-312-954), McNeese State (316-327-319-962) and Stephen F. Austin (324-335-318-977) finished out the standings.
White shot a 71 on Wednesday for the only subpar round of the three-day tournament. She was one-over on the front nine, posting three bogeys and two birdies, then rallied on the back nine. A birdie on 11 was countered by a bogey on 13, but the Lubbock native responded with birdies on both 15 and 16 to sit one under, then finished off her season with pars on 17 and 18. She was just two strokes behind winner Stine Pedersen of Lamar, who defeated UTSA's Fabiola Arriaga in a playoff on the third playoff hole.
Katie Belser finished off her Islanders career in style, posting a 75 on the final day of the Championship. Aside from a double on three, the Ingleside native was incredibly consistent, notching seven pars in her first eight before a bogey on nine dropped her to three-over-par. But on the back, she upped the ante, shooting even par with seven pars, a bogey and a birdie on the 14th to finish in a tie for 10th.
Nikki Dunn had a tough finish to her final round to card a 79 on the third and final day. She had three consecutive bogeys on two, three and four to fall to plus-3, but responded with four pars and a birdie to sit two-over at the turn. She made par on 10 and 11, but then tallied three straight bogeys to fall to plus-5. A birdie trimmed one stroke off her total, but a double on 16 and a bogey on 17 left her with a 79.
Lindsay Biehler improved her score for the third straight day, carding an 81. She was six-over on the front, but rebounded to post just three bogeys on the back to finish her tournament 35th. Cecilia Jeon had a disappointing final day, shooting eight over on the front and five over on the back nine to finish with an 83.
