The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi golf team will embark on its final pre-conference tune-up, when it heads to the Baylor Spring Invitational on Monday, April 11, and Tuesday, April 12, at Twin Rivers Golf Club. It will be the final event before the Islanders play host to the Southland Conference Tournament from Monday, April 18 - Wednesday, April 20, at Corpus Christi Country Club.
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi will be joined at the event by a competitive 18-team field that includes seven teams ranked in the top 70 - Oklahoma (28), Augusta State (50), North Texas (53), Texas Tech (55), UTSA (58), UALR (63) and Baylor (70) - and eight teams from the Lone Star State.
The Islanders will feature a new player in their lineup for this week's event, as freshman Lindsay Biehler will make her spring debut in Waco. Biehler finished in the team's top three in each of the first two fall events before suffering an injury that kept her out through the first three spring events.
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi has been led by junior Ryann White and sophomore Nikki Dunn throughout the spring season. White is ranked as the second-best player in the conference, and has finished in the top 10 of all three spring events, including fourth-place finishes at both the American Bank Islanders Classic and the UALR Women's Golf Classic.
Dunn has been right behind White every step of the way, finishing as the Islanders' No. 2 player in each of the last two events. She has placed in the top 15 of all three spring events so far for the Islanders.
The Baylor Spring Invitational will tee off Monday, April 11, with 36 holes beginning with an 8:30 a.m. CDT shotgun start and continuous play through the second round. The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. CDT. Live scoring, which will be updated every three holes, will be available at www.GolfStat.com and www.BaylorBears.com.
