Women's Golf finishes opening tournament with fifth-place finish

FORT WORTH - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team finished the Worldlink North Texas Classic in fifth place on Tuesday at the Golf Course at Champions Circle. Junior Ryann White finished up in a tie for sixth place following her third round score of 72.

White who had a three round score of 221 tied with Chandra Alexander and Addison Long from North Texas.

Newcomer Lindsay Biehler finished in a tie for 24th with a final overall score of 231, while Katie Belser was 29th ,just two shots behind her teammate with a 233 score after shooting a final round 73. Nikki Dunn tied for 34th with a 235 total.

Cecilia Jeon shot 243 over the two-day tournament and finished tied for 53rd.

"This was a great season opener for us and having back-to-back rounds in the 300s is something we didn't do much last season," said head coach Carol Blackmar "Ryann had a good start for us as did Lindsay and Katie, but I liked what we did as a team in our first tournament."

Next up for the Islanders women's golf team is a trip to Broken Arrow, Okla. for the ORU Shootout. The tournament is hosted by Oral Roberts and will take place on October 4th and 5th.
