Islanders fifth after first day of Worldlink North Texas Fall Classic
FORT WORTH - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team opened up the fall portion of their schedule at the Worldlink North Texas Fall Classic. The Islanders sit in fifth place after a day one score of 613, led by junior Ryann White who is tied for ninth place overall.
The team played two rounds on Monday and will conclude with two more tomorrow. In round one they combined for a 313 score and then followed with a 300 during round two.
White leads Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with total score of 149, good for a ninth place tie. She shot a 76 in the first round and finished the day with a 73 in the second.
Lindsay Biehler is tied for 17th after a two-round score of 152, Cecilia Jeon fired a 158 which has her in a tie for 33rd.
Nikki Dunn is tied for 37th after a 159 score and Katie Belser had a two-round score of 160 to round out the Islanders line-up.
"It's a great start to the new season our freshman played good today and Ryann had another solid day for us," said head coach Carol Blackmar "We're looking forward to tomorrow after how we finished, especially with our best golf coming during the hottest part of the day.
"It speaks volumes about this group."
Tomorrow the tournament will conclude at the Golf Club at Champions Circle, play begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
