WACO - Sophomore Ryann White fired a 5-over 77 and teammates Courtney Peeler and Cecilia Jeon finished the final round a shot back as the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team completed its regular season Wednesday at the Twin River Country Club.
The Islanders combined to a 325 on the final day finishing a shot behind Wichita State and two behind Boise State with a 54-hole score of 981. Led by medalist Jaclyn Jansen, the host Bears finished first overall with a 904 (303-301-300). Baylor had four players place seventh or better. Oklahoma was second 11 shots back at 915 (297-313-305).
Peeler led the Islanders for the tournament with a 15th-place finish as she just missed her second-straight top 10 finish by just two strokes. The senior carded a 232 (79-75-78). ended the tournament at 16-over par.
After an opening round 81, White bounced back with a pair of 77s to place 23rd. White's 54-hole score was 235 (81-77-77). Jeon saved her best for last as he matched Peeler's 78 on the final 18 holes.
The Islanders will look to defend their Southland Conference title in two weeks at the Southland Conference Championship in Huntsville on April 19-21.
