WACO - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team opened played at the Baylor Spring Invitational at the Twin Rivers Golf Club with 36 holes on Monday.

In their final regular-season event of the season, the Islanders shaved 12 shots off their opening round score over the final 18 holes. After a 335 in the first round, A&M-Corpus Christi carded 323 in the second round. They are one shot behind McLennan Community College and five behind SMU. The host Bears lead Oklahoma by six shots with a 604 (303-301).

Senior Courtney Peeler continued her strong play finishing the first two rounds in a three-way tie for ninth. Peeler opened with a 79 and followed with a second-round 75 for a combined 154. She is 10-over par and nine shots behind individual leader Jaclyn Jansen of Baylor. Jansen carded a 71 and a 74 to finish the day 1-over and is one shot ahead of Mallory Fraiche of UALR, who had the best round of the day with a 69 in the first round.

Sophomore Ryann White is tied for 27th improving 18 places in the second round. After an 81 in the first round, White posted a 77 in the second round for a 158. She is four shots behind Peeler at 14-over par

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday morning.
