DAY ONE AT NORTHERN MIGRATION GOLF TOURNAMENT IN THE BOOKS

FLORENCE, Ariz. - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golfers Courtney Peeler and Ryann White fired rounds of 74 and 75 in the first round of the Northern Migration Golf Invite at the Poston Butte Golf Club on Monday to finish round one in the top 20.

Peeler finished in a tie for 11th with the 74, while White was once shot back in a tie for 19th. However, teammates Cecilia Jeon and Ashley Watkins opened with matching 85s as the Islanders shot a combined 319. Chelsey Watkins did not post a score.

Individually, Kayla Mortellaro leads after opening with a 68, while Iowa State's Victoria Stefansen was second two shots back. Southland Conference rival UTSA was first after the opening round with a team score of 298. The Roadrunners are a shot ahead of Kansas and Idaho, while East Tennessee and Minnesota are tied for fourth at 300.

The three-round event continues on Tuesday morning.
