OPENING ROUND OF TEXAS A&M-TOURNAMENT SUSPENDED BY RAIN
COLLEGE STATION - Plagued by wet weather all day, the opening round of the "MO" Memorial golf tournament hosted by Texas A&M at the par-72 Traditions Golf Club was suspended by rain late Friday afternoon.
The Islanders found themselves in eighth spot just six shots out of sixth with three holes remaining. Only freshman Cecilia Jeong completed her round for the Islanders carding a 91 in her debut. Through 15 holes, Ashley Watkins had the best score for A&M-Corpus Christi at 5-over and a team-best two birdies to end the day tied for 18th. Ryann White and Courtney Peeler were three shots back tied at 8-over. Chelsey Watkins was 11-over
Led by individual leader Julia Boland at 2-under the host Aggies were leading as play was called at 2-over. Tulane was one-shot back at 3-over in second. Tulsa was third eight shots back at 11-over.
Six of the 11 teams will have to finish their first round Saturday morning before starting the second round. The final 18 holes will be Sunday.
