The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team opened the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational at Pelican Preserve and Country Club with its two best rounds of the fall campaign on Monday.

Led by Melissa Fahey's best round as an Islander, A&M-Corpus Christi opened the day with a 305 before firing a 306 in the second round. The Islanders finished with a two-round score of 611 placing them eighth out of 13 teams. TAMUCC was one of two teams to not have a player in its top five fire an 80 or higher in either round. The other team was second-place Florida Southern which had a 36-hole mark of 587. Host Florida International holds the lead after the opening day with back-to-back rounds of 291.

Fahey fired a 73 in the first round which is tops by an Islander this fall. She fired a 76 in the second round to sit 11th after 36 holes. Ashley Watkins is two shots behind Fahey with a 151 to tie for 15th. Junior college transfer Courtney Peeler matched Watkins' 77 over the first 18 holes and added a 78 in the second for a score of 155 for 34th. Ryann White had a pair of 78s to finish with a 156 a shot ahead of senior Ashley Olynick who had a 79 and 78.

The Golden Panthers' Paula Hurtado finished seven shots ahead of all golfers with a five-under 67 on the first round and a two-under 70 for the second 18. Three players were tied at even par – FIU's Belen Buendia, Marianne Andersson of Florida Southern, and Stetson's Danielle Jackson – with 36 hole scores of 144.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
