JONESBORO, Ark. – Led by Ashley Olynick, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team finds itself in fourth place after two rounds at the Lady Red Wolf Golf Classic hosted by Arkansas State on Monday at the Par 71 Jonesboro Country Club.

The Islanders opened the day with a 310, which was the morning's third-best round, before shooting 316 in the second round of the day to finish with a 36-hole score 626. Drake leads second-place Central Arkansas by two strokes after two rounds. The Bulldogs opened with a 306 and closed with 305. UCA, which led with a 304 for the first 18 holes, fired a 309 in the second round for a 613. Murray State was third with a 617 (312-305) nine shots ahead of A&M-Corpus Christi, while host Arkansas State was fifth five shots behind the Islanders with a 631 (313-318).

Individually, Olynick fired a pair of 76s for a two-round total of 152. Courtney Peeler was in fire in the first round with a 75 over the opening 18 holes, but shot an 82 in the second round to place 15th after day one with a 157. Ashley Watkins and Ryan White finished tied for 26th at 159. After opening with an 81, Watkins rebounded to card a 78, while White started with a 79 and finished with an 80. Melissa Fahey was the fifth Islander with scores of 80 and 83.

"Ashley (Olynick) put together two solid, consistent rounds as a senior provided us great leadership," said Islander head coach Carol Blackmar. "She is very capable of shooting lower. Being just four shots back she has put her self in position to be in contention to win the title tomorrow."

UCA's Nicole Forshner is the individual leader with a two-round score of 148. Forshner opened with a 74 and closed with a one-over 72 for a 146. She leads Drake's Olivia Lansing and Bethany Yates of Murray by two strokes. Lansing had a 76 and 72, while Yates was consistent with a pair of 74 to finish the day four shots in front of Olynick. Olynick ended the day a pair of shots ahead of the Drake tandem of Kelly Godwin and Michelle Mathwick, and Sanna Vihervaara of Central Arkansas.

The tournament concludes on Tuesday morning.
