A Dunn Deal Senior Year: Vol. 2, Issue 6

Hey Islanders Fans!

Maaan how time flies! Unreal … can't believe it's already half way through my senior year! How ya'll been? It's been awhile but all is good on this end. The fall semester post-baccalaureate classes ended very well for me.

After we picked up our first victory of the season at home against Cornell we were headed for a nice six-day Christmas break with our families. Since my family is all over the U.S. … literally … on the other side of California … all the way across to the east … up north to Central USA and all the way down south, I spent my Christmas in my high school hometown of Killeen, Texas. I spent it with some loved ones and celebrated the reason for the season!

But over the break, there was no stopping! We continued to get better and play as a team … we played and practiced, played and practiced, played and practiced. Even though the outcome of our playing hasn't been going the way that we had hoped, it's more rewarding to know we are growing as a team.

Our first four conference games of the New Year ended in losses but with lessons learned. Our last time out against Lamar was the best game that we have played as a team in a long time. Changes were made and things are looking up heading into the rest of conference play.  Come on out on Thursday, Jan. 17 as we take on Oral Roberts for the first time in the Southland Conference at 5 p.m. The men will follow at 7:30 p.m. so come out and show us some support as we try and turn it around in time to make the Southland Conference Tournament because that's the main goal.

Classes don't start until Wednesday, Jan. 23, so we still have time to just focus on basketball. Until then hope you all stay warm and cozy for this unexpected cold weather!
