The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball team will be playing its final road game of the season on Wednesday night when they travel to Arlington to take on the UT Arlington Lady Mavs. The game will tipoff at 7 p.m. at Texas Hall on the UTA campus.
The team is now 2-25 on the year with a 0-14 Southland Conference record. The Lady Mavs are 7-19 overall and are fighting for the final spot in the conference tournament with a record of 4-10 in league play.
The Islanders will be looking to even the season series after falling 66-63 against UTA earlier in the season at the Dugan Wellness Center. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi will look to play the role of spoiler and keep UTA out of the tournament after the earlier season loss where they led until the final minute of the game. The Lady Mavs Tamara Simmons hit a three-point shot with 33 seconds left to give her team the lead for good.
Adrienne Scott had one of the best games of her career that night, scoring 16 points while grabbing 16 rebounds to lead the Islanders effort. Scott is also leading the team for the season with a 13.7 scoring average while pulling in 7.7 boards a game. Anitra Jeffery is tops on the team in rebounding at 8.8 a contest. Ashley Darley is the second-leading scorer with 9.0 points a night.
The Lady Mavs are led by Simmons, who is scoring 15.9 a game. Shalyn Martin is also scoring in double digits at 12.7 per game while also leading the team in rebounds with 6.7 per game.
